Annual Musical Review for Kids & Families Joyfully Celebrates Hanukkah with a New York Sensibility

This joyous, family-friendly musical play includes songs and scenes by some of New York's funniest writers, including a Hanukkah version of A Christmas Carol, a mother and daughter making latkes together, a parody of American Idol, the story of "Thomas, the Shammus" and the rousing klezmer-inspired title tune. Merkin Concert Hall Presents Broadway Close Up: Gerard Alessandrini (Dec 7, 2009)
Merkin Concert Hall presents an evening with Gerard Alessandrini, the comic genius behind Forbidden Broadway. Hailed as “the funniest show in New York” by The New Yorker, this satirical cabaret revue spoofing Broadway musicals is the longest-running musical revue in the world. Hosted by Sean Hartley, the evening includes interviews with Mr. Alessandrini and performances by Forbidden Broadway veterans James Donegan, Donna English, Gina Kreiezmar, Nora Mae Lyng, Jeanne Montano and Bill Selby along with surprise guests. The musical director is David Caldwell. The show revisits gems from Forbidden Broadway’s 25 years of inspired spoofery and offers plenty of backstage insights. Find out how Mr. Alessandrini really feels about Broadway’s past and future, and some of the non-Forbidden shows he’s written, too.
