Writing Jazz: An Epilogue on Influence
Saturday, May 30, 2009 8:30 pm

Pre-concert discussion at 7:30 pm with Pulitzer Prize-winning composer, musician and author Gunther Schuller, David Rakowski and ensemble members
From the early 20th century to the present day, classical composers have responded to the jazz sounds that are so much a part of American culture. Lark Chamber Artists will explore this fascinating interaction, culminating in the premiere of a commissioned work by David Rakowski featuring Zephyros Winds and the genre-bending pianist Anthony de Mare.
The creation and presentation of "Stolen Moments" by David Rakowski was made possible in part with support from the National Endowment for the Arts.
