“How wonderful to hear four young musicians be such good ambassadors for music,” says cellist Yo-Yo Ma of La Catrina Quartet, which promotes new music by living composers and Mexican and Latin-American art music as well as performing the masterworks of the string quartet repertoire. Currently the Quartet-in-Residence at New Mexico State University and the Chamber Music Festival of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, the quartet is Daniel Vega-Albela and Blake Espy, violin; Jorge Martínez, viola and Cesar Martinez-Bourguet, cello.
