Street Talk: Miles’ On the Corner
Monday, May 25, 2009 8:00 pm
For jazz musicians, he’s known by one name alone—“Miles.” A group of today’s top artists gathers to revisit On the Corner, Miles Davis’ epochal freestyle, improvisational funk over a jazz backdrop LP. The group features the innovative trumpet of Graham Haynes as well as the album’s original saxophonist, Dave Liebman, and tabla player, Badal Roy, paying homage to a sound so radical and electrifying that at the time it sent shock waves through the jazz establishment. Prepare to get down.
The line-up includes the following:
- Kenny Wessel -- guitar
- Dick Sarpola -- bass
- John Benthal -- guitar
- Karl Berger -- piano, vibes
- Graham Haynes -- trumpet
- Dave Liebman -- saxophone
- Tim McLafferty -- drums
