A special Presentation of New Sounds® Live with WNYC’s John Schaefer

The eight-piece ensemble Newspeak performs a major new work by Darcy James Argue, winner of the Down Beat Critics Poll as Rising Star in the Big Band, Composer and Arranger categories. Argue’s 18-piece big band Secret Society will perform new works by Vijay Iyer, winner of the 2010 Jazz Journalists Association Artist of the Year Award, and the Montreal-based composer Nicole Lizée.

This concert is part of the Ecstatic Music Festival, which brings together more than 150 composers, songwriters and performers who are re-defining contemporary music.
