Cellist André Emelianoff Presents “Musical Journeys with the Archetypal Cello”
Esteemed cellist Andrė Emelianoff will perform a major series of recitals, powerful in its evocation of nature, human drama, archetypal personae and spiritual realms on Wednesday, February 4, Saturday, March 14 and Wednesday, May 6, 2009. Mr. Emelianoff will be assisted by Noreen Polera, pianist; Serena Benedetti, soprano, Patricia Spencer, flute; Meighan Stoops, clarinet/bass clarinet.
Cellist Andre Emelianoff has been a highly valued contributor to New York's rich musical life, where he is respected as a chamber musician, orchestra leader, soloist and educator. His talents have been equally applied to the standard repertoire and to the music of today. He has commissioned and premiered works by numerous composers, from the most celebrated to the newly emerging. Whatever the music, Mr. Emelianoff is admired for the passion, depth of interpretive viewpoint and consummate artistry that infuse his performances. His upcoming cello series will showcase the broad range of André’s artistic interests and viewpoints, featuring new and past commissioned works and familiar pinnacles of the cello repertoire, including and works by Bach, Beethoven, Bloch, Brahms, Carter, Debussy, Gates, Messiaen, Perle, Poulenc, Schoenberg, Schuller, Tower and Wernick.
