Broadway Close Up is expanding! In addition to three concerts celebrating the Broadway giants John Kander (composer of Cabaret, Chicago, New York, New York and Kiss of the Spider Woman), Gerard Alessandrini (creator of Forbidden Broadway) and the 9th annual Bound for Broadway concert with Liz Callaway offering sneak peeks at five new shows, this year’s series includes two special treats. Girls Like Us, based on the best-selling book by Sheila Weller, features the music of Carole King, Joni Mitchell and Carly Simon performed by Liz Callaway, Barbara Walsh, Capathia Jenkins, Jessica Molaskey and Ann Hampton Callaway. And finally, kick off your New Year’s Eve at Merkin with the brilliantly funny musical Striking 12.
