"Merkin Hall has valiantly presented the entire spectrum of music making from world music to classical ensembles to work by the most experimental and avant-garde composers. I am thrilled to be a part of their season this year as composer-in-residence. With Karen Chester at the helm, Merkin will continue to draw crowds to hear fascinating and eclectic music from in and around the city... Merkin has never shied away from the unexpected and I am happy to call it home this season."

"I'm excited to return to Merkin, which continues to challenge the art, the artist and the audience. This season I perform with my gang of musicians, The Bandwagon. I am looking forward to sitting at the Kaufman Center's Steinway Grand and bringing my Texas-Harlemite timbre to you all."

Past Featured Composers have included Aaron Jay Kernis, Osvoldo Golijov and John Zorn.
