Chamber Orchestra of New York Rhapsodic ThemesThursday, May 10 | 7:00pm |
Marika Bournaki, pianoforte
Daniela Mack, Mezzo-soprano
Our Rhapsodic Themes concert will be a most exciting evening of musical delights. We will open with Gabrieli's brass fanfare Canzona Septimi Toni. The concert will feature the historically-significant restoration of Respighi's Tre Liriche (Three Songs) together with his orchestration of Monteverdi's extant Lamento di Arianna (from Monteverdi's lost second opera "Arianna"), showcasing mezzo-soprano Daniela Mack. The piano versions of the three songs were initially championed by tenor Luciano Pavarotti. Concert-goers may also recall Monteverdi's famous 'lasciatemi morire' motif, also included in Monteverdi's Madrigals Book VIII. The almost film-like Rhapsody on Theme of Paganini of Rachmaninoff follows with our shining emerging soloist, Marika Bournaki. The second half will begin with John Barry's theme from the film Out of Africa, and conclude with Beethoven's rhythmically charged Symphony No. 8.
Priority Tickets include front orchestra seating and 'Meet-the-Artists' post-concert wine reception, featuring Antinori Wines - "Official Sponsor of Chamber Orchestra of New York" - and Murray's Cheese. For more information about the reception please contact Santa Maria Pecoraro, Orchestra Manager at manager@chamberorchestraofnewyork.org or 646-397-1879.
