Theater Wing Party 2012

The 2012 Theater Wing Party took place on Sunday, March 4.

One of Kaufman Center’s most beloved events, the annual Theater Wing Party takes place at an exquisite Upper West Side home, complete with delicious cocktails, sumptuous hors d'œuvres and lively entertainment featuring some incredible musical talent from Kaufman Center’s very own Broadway Close Up and Broadway Playhouse series. The party culminates in a sing-along featuring songs by pop and Broadway greats. Proceeds from the event go to support the Center’s Musical Theater programs.

This year's Theater Wing Party featured performances by Kaufman Center’s 2011-2012 Artists-in-Residence, Jill Abramovitz and Jason Robinson (pictured above with Theater Wing Director Sean Hartley and Brad Alexander) and composer/pianist Brad Alexander. The Artist-in-Residence program was created this year to offer financial and creative support to gifted writers and performers developing new works.

Jason Robinson
Jason Robinson, who is familiar to the Kaufman Center community through his frequent performances in Broadway Playhouse, The Poppy Seed Players and Broadway Close Up, will perform an excerpt from his new project "J-Ro's Play List," a variety show that celebrates all genres of music, from Broadway to Pop. Jason hopes to introduce young people to music they've never heard, and to get them on their feet and singing!

Jill Abramovitz
Jill Abramovitz, a well-known New York actor and lyricist who has performed on Broadway, in regional theater and in several Kaufman Center concerts including Broadway Close Up, will perform excerpts from several projects in development, including a musical she is co-writing with her husband, composer Brad Alexander. Brad, a popular Manhattan singer-pianist, will also perform at the party.
