Winner of the Second Prize at the 2010 Liszt International Piano Competition in Moscow, German pianist Leon Bernsdorf has appeared as soloist with orchestras in Hamburg and Berlin performing piano concertos by Grieg, Rachmaninov and Brahms. Upcoming performances include a repeat orchestral appearance in Moscow, a piano recital at the Liszt Festival in Budapest and recitals at international festivals in Bergamo and Verona, Italy.
Merkin Concert Hall’s Tuesday Matinees series presents some of the brightest young classical stars from around the world in the early stages of what are sure to be long and successful careers. The 2011-12 series continues with Musicians from Ravinia’s Steans Music Institute (4/3/12) and the Linden String Quartet (5/1/12).
