Winner of the Alice Coleman Grand Prize at the 60th annual Coleman Chamber Ensemble
Competition in 2006, the internationally acclaimed Attacca Quartet has become one of America’s
premier young performing ensembles. Formed at the Juilliard School in 2003, they gave their debut
recital in 2007 as part of the Artists International Winners Series in Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital
Hall and have performed there on numerous occasions since. In December 2009 they gave the
Alice Tully Hall premiere of John Adams’ String Quartet. In 2010 they began an ambitious five-year
project performing all 68 string quartets of Haydn in New York City. The Attacca Quartet recently
joined the roster of Schmidt Artists International, Inc.

Merkin Concert Hall’s Tuesday Matinees series presents some of the brightest young classical stars
from around the world in the early stages of what are sure to be long and successful careers. The
series continues with pianist Leon Bersdorf (2/21/12), Musicians from Ravinia’s Steans Music
Institute
(4/3/12) and the Linden String Quartet (5/1/12).
